Dear Boeri,

This weekend I took an ugly fall at Vail. One or two somersaults later, skis and all came crashing to the ground. But not before my head connected with the snow. I knew when I hit the ground I had to have been hurt. I had been travelling fast and I was not prepared for the fall, nor had I slowed down. My head hit with such force that I just knew I had to have been severely hurt. As the seconds unfolded, I regained my sense and I was all right, though shaken. Credit goes to God and the Boeri helmet I bought two Christmases ago. I am confident that I would have suffered severe head injuries had I not been protected. I had originally bought my helmet after reading a letter to the editor in SKI magazine from a father who had lost his daughter due to a head injury that could have been prevented with the use of a helmet. Now, I am a believer forever. I think my baby boomer group needs to hear messages like this. I for one will now put helmets on the rest of my family too.

Thanks,

Hi,

My Boeri Helmet certainly saved my life this morning while telemark skiing at A-Basin Colorado. I was skiing in bounds on expert terrain when I encountered a boulder field covered by a few inches of fresh snow. My skis stopped and I was thrown forward where my head connected directly with solid rock. My neck is very sore but my brain is in tact. Had I not had this helmet on, I most likely would have become a statistic with a very sad family. I started wearing my first Boeri helmet about 4 seasons ago just before or at the beginning of the helmet hype era to save my scalp from nicks and scratches from tree branches, but I had never planned on connecting so solidly with trees or rocks. My two daughters (1 month old and 14 months old) will wear Boeri helmets when it comes time and if they argue I will explain to them if I did not wear my helmet, they may not have a father.

Dear Boeri,

My son and I were snowboarding at Haystack. I am 40 years old and we both wear Boeri. Some jerk cut me off and I was forced to turn facing uphill without any notice. My edge caught and I did a full body slam onto my back. The back of my head hit the snow with the force of being hit on the head with a sledge hammer. I am an engineer and I am certain that the force at the tiny spot on my skull that smashed into the ground was thousands of pounds per square inch. Without my Boeri I am certain I would have joined the ranks of Sonny Bono. I am convinced the fall would not have been survivable if it were not for my helmet. I did not split the helmet, which is just unbelievable to me. I could feel the incredible force being distributed throughout the entire helmet structure when I hit, absorbing the energy. It was sobering to know I survived because of head protection.

Thanks for saving my life,
