JENNIFER BERG
Helmet Story: There is one moment in skiing where I clearly remember flipping down a run in Alaska and vividly acknowledging the fact that I will survive because I am wearing my helmet. While skiing the steep flutes and runnels of Alaska's Chugach, I remember my skis getting pushed down the fall line as I was trying to cross the fall line from one flute to the next. Before I knew it, I was sideways and then instantly upside-down gaining bigger air with each inverted cartwheel I performed down the mountain. When I had finally self arrested all my momentum to a complete stop, I remember 1st grabbing my head and thinking WOW what a ride and I'm still here to see my helmet holes in the snow from each cartwheel. Thank god I was unharmed, continuos, and alive after that tumble, or I'm sure my parents would have been pissed! |
